Dental Bridges
Bridge the gap: a journey to seamless smiles
Dental bridges are restorative dental devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap — these are called abutment teeth — and a false tooth/teeth in between. These artificial teeth, known as pontics, can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
How Dental Bridges Work
The procedure for installing a dental bridge typically involves two main visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the abutment teeth are prepared by recontouring these teeth and taking impressions to create a model for the bridge, pontic, and crowns. The dentist will make a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth and gums while the bridge is being made. On the second visit, the temporary bridge is removed, and the new permanent bridge is adjusted and cemented into place.
Why Choose Dental Bridges?
Restores Your Smile
The primary benefit of dental bridges is their ability to restore your smile by replacing missing teeth. This can greatly improve your appearance and confidence.
Re-establishes Proper Chewing and Speaking
Missing teeth can impair your ability to chew properly and affect your speech. Dental bridges help in re-establishing the proper function of your teeth, allowing you to speak and chew better.
Maintains Facial Shape
A gap from missing teeth can cause the shape of your face to change, leading to a sunken appearance. Bridges support your facial structure, preventing such changes.
Prevents Teeth from Drifting
Empty spaces left by missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to move out of position, leading to misalignment. Dental bridges fill these gaps, maintaining the alignment of your teeth.
